5/20: Foodies, Flock to ZooFari

Plus, Runway Fashion in Bethesda and Jazz in the Kogod Courtyard

PARTY ANIMALS: Major foodie event ZooFari is back for another year of stuffing one's face. More than a hundred local restaurants -- including Marcel's, the Source and Vidalia -- are serving up goodies at the National Zoo. Chefs including Michel Richard from Central, and Top Chef contestant/Zaytinya chef Mike Isabella will be there, and "Ace of Cakes" star Duff Goldman will judge local pastry artists' zoo-themed cakes. Oh, and then there's wine, entertainment, animal demos and a silent auction. 6:30-9:30 p.m.; $175; all but $25 is tax-deductible.

BEST FOOT FORWARD: Get stylish in Bethesda! The Front Row brings three days of "fashion, food and fabulousity" to Bethesda Row, with a runway fashion show, 30+ trunk shows, makeovers and designer appearances. Attending authors include Laura Bennet, author of new style bible, "Didn't I Feed You Yesterday? A Mother's Guide to Sanity in Stilettos." See the complete schedule of events here; it's all happening at Bethesda Row (Woodmont Avenue, Bethesda Avenue, Arlington Road and Elm Street, Bethesda, Md.). 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

YUMMY TUNES: The courtyard between the National Portrait Gallery and the American Art Museum is not -- shockingly enough! -- just the place you get coffee after touring exhibits. The third Thursday of each month, the Kogod Courtyard becomes home to jazz program Take Five. This month's performance features the Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet. Go for music; stay for cheesecake and wine. Just trust us on this one. 5-8 p.m.; free.
