JAZZ IT UP: Kick back and help out at the Big Easy Benefit Bash, sponsored by nonprofit group Rebuilding Together. Event proceeds will help rebuild homes for low-income Katrina survivors. Head toBusboys & Poets (2021 14th St. N.W.). for New Orleans-style jazz from Yamomanem will perform, and poetry about the Gulf from local poets. While you're there, get info on volunteer programs in New Orleans. To RSVP, e-mail dlevitz@rebuildingtogether.org. 6-8 p.m.; $10 suggested donation.

DIRECTIVE? Catch a showing of the Pixar flick "Wall-E" under the stars at NoMa Summer Screen (L Street N.E. between 2nd and 3rd streets). While you're there, you can nom on local barbecue by Smokin' Somethin', popcorn and Italian ice, and music by Fatback. Bring a blanket or low chairs. 7 p.m.; free.

IT'S WHAT'S FOR DINNER: Hungry? Yes, us too. Although that might be because we're writing this at lunch time. Either way! It's half-price burger night at Rock & Roll Hotel (1353 H St. N.E.) -- plus they've got $3 rail drinks. Go. For us. 6-9 p.m; no cover.
