12/7: Saving the Planet(arium)

Plus, Cirque Dreams Holidaze and "Jews in Space"

PLAN-IT: Arlington's David M. Brown Planetarium is in trouble, and the only thing preventing its closure is your listening enjoyment. Sounds simple, right? Join Iota Club & Café (2832 Wilson Blvd., Arlington) for their benefit concert to save Arlington's science gem. 8 p.m.; $10 minimum donation.

YOU SURE IT’S NOT "THE" CIRQUE? The Kennedy Center (2700 F St. N.W.) hosts the Cirque du Soleil doppelganger Cirque Dreams Holidaze, a high-flying, gravity-defying stunt and contortion holiday show. 7:30-10 p.m.; $31-$82.

JEWS IN SPACE: Speaking of defying gravity, AFI Silver Theater (8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring) shows "Jews in Space"! See a family in Buenos Aires attempting to unite over a family meal, complete with feuding mothers, suicidal grandfathers, kosher cooking and a drunken family friend. 9:15 p.m.; $11.
