117 Films in 12 Days? That’s a Lotta Popcorn

The D.C. Independent Film Festival kicks off Thursday

The D.C. Independent Film Festival kicks off this Thursday and runs through March 14 at the Navy Memorial Museum/Heritage Center (701 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W.). Featuring indies from all over the globe, the film fest should satisfy at least one, if not all, of your genre cravings.

Into thrillers? Check out "The Beneficiary" (March 13, 3 p.m.), chronicling an ordinary scenario that turns the lives of three people into total chaos. If you're ISO something a little more light-hearted, try "Ajumma! Are You Krazy???" (March 13, 4:45 p.m.), a Korean comedy following three crazy fans on a mission to meet their favorite music superstar, who is conveniently shooting his music video on their homeland of Hawaii. And for the inner children in all of us, there's "Hey!", an Israelian animated film (March 5, 9:30 p.m.) this illustrated the sci-fi-tastic journey of a weird young girl who's trying to recover her lost pet toad. Yes, really.

All in all, there are 117 flicks screening across 12 days -- check out the complete schedule here. Opening and closing night tickets are $50 and each include a reception. For a different deal, you can purchase the Festival 10 Pack for $50, which gives you the freedom to use 10 sessions whichever way you like. Bring along 10 movie buff friends or spend some quality alone-time with 10 films of your liking. The choice is yours!
