A woman from Florida has died and another person is injured after a car flipped on its roof during a crash on the Baltimore Washington Parkway Wednesday afternoon, fire officials say.
The crash happened on southbound BW Parkway between Route 197 and Powder Mill Road, Prince George's County Fire and Rescue said.
Rescue workers found two people in the car. A 58-year-old woman from Florida died at the scene, U.S. Park Police said.
A Park Police helicopter took the other person to a hospital. The extent of the person's injuries are not clear at this time.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
The southbound lanes of BW Parkway were blocked for several hours before Powder Mill Road and traffic was re-routed to Rt. 197 as police investigated. All lanes have since reopened.
