Kennedy Hearse Sells for Six Figures

1964 Cadillac sells for $160,000 at auction

The white hearse used to transport President John F. Kennedy's body from Parkland Hospital to Love Field Airport sold for six figures at an Arizona auction this week.

The 1964 Cadillac was sold to Stephen Tebo, a collector from Boulder, Colo., who has property in Dallas, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Tebo bought the car for $160,000 and said he plans to eventually put the car on display.

The Barrett-Jackson auction house said the car was used by the O'Neal Funeral Home to deliver a bronze casket to Parkland Hospital following the fatal shooting in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.

The hearse then carried the president and first lady to Love Field so that the President's body could be flown back to Washington, D.C.

In 1968 the car was sold to Ardeen Vaughan, of Alvarado, where it remained in his private collection for 40 years.
