Linganore Winery (13601 Glissans Mill Road, Mt. Airy, Md.) is more than just your typical vineyard (although we really don't have a problem with "typical" vineyards, either).
A good example of the festive spirit of Linganore are the
they host throughout the year. Each festival includes live music, vendors, food and fine art. It might be the reason why they were named Maryland's best winery in 2012.
Throughout the month of August, you have a couple of other options as well, including a daily $10 cheese/wine pairing, plus the Fridays on the Patio series that brings you tasty wines, good food and music... on the patio. (Bet you didn't see that one coming.)
Worth the Trip
Wine tastings are $5 per person. The winery is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
