So many questions are left unanswered after Labor Day. Can I wear white? Where do I go to get away?
We can't help you with the no-white-after-Labor-Day thing (we're equally confused) but we're pretty sure that the Onancock HarborFest would be a great destination the weekend after Labor Day.
This two-day fest takes place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8, featuring music, food, water activites and a 5 or 10K water race. Battle to the finish line with a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard.
If you prefer a good laugh, attend the Great Paper Boat Race at the harbor instead. There's also a rubber duck race for the kids (OK, and adults).
Worth the Trip
On land, you'll find an artisans' market, a critter parade, an antique car show, kids' activities and more. Nom funnel cakes, crabcakes or chili fries brought in by the vendors at the wharf. You can also pre-emptively burn off those cals with the Run for Heart 5K Run/Walk, which begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Onancock has many accommodations for your stay. It's located about three hours from D.C.
