An ‘American Idol' and a Great Clean-Up Effort at the W&OD Trail Fest

If you give, you shall receive -- especially if you participate in the Hail the Trail event to beautify the W&OD trail.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, join in on the largest clean-up and beautification effort in the 45-mile Virginia trail's history. 
 
WHERE: Ten stations located along the W&OD, from Purcellville all the way down to Bon Air in Arlington.
 
WHAT: Participants can choose from planting butterfly gardens, building picnic tables, weeding, planting, picking up trash and more.
 
HOW: Register as an individual or a team.
 
For all your hard work, you shall receive... the trail fest. A celebration of the trail features music from "American Idol" alumLauren Alaina, and a Living Well expo that dishes about health resources in your community. The fest is located at Farmwell Station Middle School (44281 Gloucester Parkway Ashburn, Va.) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
 
Participants are encouraged to walk or bike; is you must drive, park in the Loudoun County Water parking lot (44865 Loudoun Water Way, Ashburn, Va.) and take a free shuttle bus to the event.
 
All events are free and open to the public.
 
ALSO SEE: The Great Skedaddle, a run/walk happening the same day, leaves from Farmwell Middle School at 10:30 a.m. Registration is $20 for the 5K or $25 for the 10-miler.
