Ben's Chili Bowl Expanding to Arlington

Local fave Ben's Chili Bowl is expanding into Rosslyn

Arlingtonians, are you depressed about being so far away from the district? Don't be. Local fave Ben's Chili Bowl is expanding into Rosslyn, as the Washington Business Journal first reported.

Set to open in early 2014, the new location promises all the best of the original U Street location, but in a more suburban venue.

The Ali family, in a brief memo on their website, explains that the expansion is related to the gratitude they feel to all those who drive across state lines in order to eat at their establishment. It's meant to be viewed as a somewhat literal means of bridging the gap between patrons and their favorite chili spot.

The original location recently celebrated its 55th year, and satellite spots dish up the good stuff at FedEx Field and Nationals Park.

The new location will be housed in the former Ray's Hell Burger location at 1725 Wilson Blvd., sharing space in a small strip mall with such eateries as Pho 75, Butcher Burgers and Red Hot and Blue. It's easily walkable from both the Rosslyn and Court House Metro stations.
