Fire Dancers? Robots? Artomatic's Got It All in Hyattsville

What started in 1999 as an art exhibit for a small group of friends in D.C. has grown to a nonprofit festival attracting thousands of art enthusiasts each year. The best part about Artomatic? Anyone can share their art at this non-juried, monthlong arts festival.

The six-week event in Hyattsville, Maryland, features all types of art, from visual to performance, as well as demos that range from building your own robots to drawing nude models. Special events also include fire dancers, live music and short plays.

Participating artists were all selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

Throughout the festival, you'll also find professional development workshops, tours, seminars and themed events.

On Thursday nights, a First Responders Happy Hour runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. First responders should show their badges or go in uniform.
