For the Rest of the Year, You'll Need Passes to Visit the African American History Museum on Weekdays

If you plan on visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture this month, you'll once again need timed passes for entry on weekdays. 

During September, the museum allowed visitors in without a pass during the week. That program ended last week and won't return until January.

Between now and the end of the year, weekday visitors will need to get timed-entry passes to visit the popular museum.

Same-day timed entry passes will be available at 6:30 a.m. each morning. You can also try to get a walk-up pass after 1 pm.

In January, the museum's "Walk-Up Weekdays" program will return, and visitors will not need timed-entry passes for weekdays trips. But you will need a pass if you hope to visit on a Saturday or Sunday in January. Those passes will be available at 9 a.m. on Oct. 3. 

Access to the museum has been in high demand since it opened in September 2016. Timed passes are free, but they get snapped up quickly when they are released to the public.
