Tax Day Deals and Freebies

What to Know

  • April 18 is the deadline for filing income tax returns

Monday is the deadline for filing income tax returns, and while the task can seem daunting, there are some rewards waiting for you once you finish.

The most practical of all tax season freebies is the IRS' Free File program, which allows those who have an adjusted gross income of $62,000 or less to file for free through the agency's website.

When you're done filing your taxes, check out these deals and freebies:

Boston Market: Once you've worked up an appetite, you can grab a half-chicken dinner with two sides, cornbread, a regular fountain drink and a cookie for $10.40.

Bob Evans: The restaurant chain is giving a 30 percent discount off all dine-in and carry out meals. Be sure to show the coupon on your phone to snag this deal.

Bruegger's Bagels: Big Bagel Bundles are just $10.40 -- a $3.50 "deduction."

Chili's Grill & Bar: Drink up at happy hour! Participating Chili's will have $5 Presidente Margaritas. Because, America.

Chuck E. Cheese's: For the ultimate Tax Day family deal, head to Chuck E. Cheese's for a buy-one-get-one deal. After a purchase of a large cheese pizza, you'll get a second pizza free.

Great American Cookie: Get a free regular chocolate chip cookie on Monday.

Hand & Stone Massage: Treat yourself to a massage or facial for $39.95 Monday.

Hard Rock Cafe: You can get a free burger at the Hard Rock Cafe, but there's a catch -- you have to sing. You can pick up the mic anytime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday. Go here for more information.

Hydromassage: The stressed and overworked can claim a free massage at participating Hydromassage locations

Marriott: Book a room on marriott.com to get up to 20 percent off the chain's best weekend rate for hotels in Washington, D.C. from May 26 through Sept. 5. The longer you stay, the more you save.

National parks: While it's not technically a tax day freebie, National Park Week kicks off Saturday, with free entry to 410 national parks across the United States. The free week runs through April 24.

Office Depot: Office Depot is offering five pounds of free document shredding. All you have to do is print out this coupon

Slate Wine Bar + Bistro: On Monday, Slate (2404 Wisconsin Ave. NW) will offer happy hour specials all day from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Schlotzsky's: Get one free small The Original sandwich with the purchase of a 32-ounce drink and a bag of chips.

(Note: Due to Emancipation Day in D.C., your tax filing deadline for 2016 is  Monday, April 18, not Friday, April 15.)
