    Drive-In Movie Options for Your Summer

    A couple places in the region are getting nostalgic for drive-in movies this summer. Tommy McFly reports. (Published Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019)

    Summer nights have wound down, but a few D.C.-area spots are still hosting outdoor movies into autumn. Scroll on for everything you need to know about where and when you can spend an evening in front of the big screen.

    NOTE: Film schedules are subject to change due to weather and such things. Please check with each movie series' official website to verify dates and times before you head out.

    IN THE DISTRICT:

      Union Market DC Drive-In, Union Market, 1309 5th St NE. Drive-in parking is $15, but walkups are free.

      • Sept. 6, 8 p.m.: "Coco"
      • Oct. 4, 8:15 p.m.: "The Wiz"

      The Kennedy Center

      • The Kennedy Center's new outdoor Video Wall opens Sept. 7, and will host screenings every day until Sept. 22 as part of an opening festival.

      IN MARYLAND:

        National Harbor Movies on the Potomac — National Harbor Plaza, 137 National Plaza, Fort Washington. Thursday movies begin at 7 p.m.; Sunday movies begin at 6 p.m.

        • Sept. 9: "The Wizard of Oz"
        • Sept. 12: "Venom"
        • Sept. 16: "The Wiz"

        IN VIRGINIA:

        CORRECTION (May 10, 2019, 10:27 a.m.): The Alexandria Comcast Outdoor Film Festival and Strathmore Comcast Xfinity Outdoor Film Festival won't be held in 2019. The Four Mile Summer Movie Series has not yet been announced for 2019. Mosaic District Films in the Park and Bethesda Outdoor Movies had not yet been announced at the time of initial publishing.
