Get Excited: Three-Block-Long Water Slide Coming to Tysons

1,000 foot water slide will dominate Tysons Aug. 6

Update: Slide the City has been postponed from July 16 to Aug. 6.

You may not have known it, but this is actually what you've been waiting for all your life: The world's longest water slide is coming to Tysons Corner.

On one day only, Aug. 6, Slide the City's 1,000-foot-long water slide, decked out with blue and green arches and a padded slide, will dominate three blocks in Tysons as part of its national summer tour, said Amy Gessel, Slide the City's public relations director.

Sliders can register online for single slider, triple slider, ultimate slider (9 a.m.-noon) or all-day slider passes.

Tickets are available online; prices range from $10 to $99. Some prices began rising in May, although ultimate slider tickets won't increase.

Gessel said those taking a single ride will also have to bring their own inner tube or buy one during the event. Triple, ultimate and all-day sliders will receive a tube, a mouth guard and a drawstring bag. Ultimate sliders will also score a hat, and all-day sliders will get a hat and a T-shirt.
