Play With Cats at Georgetown's New Pop-Up Kitten Lounge

You can reserve sessions to spend 15, 30 or 70 minutes with the cute felines

Everyone who's cat- and kitten-obsessed will soon flock to a new pop-up lounge in Georgetown.

Crumbs & Whiskers has launched The Kitten Lounge at 3109 M St. NW.

Customers can pay online in advance to spend 15, 30 or 70 minutes with the cute felines. Each package costs $15, $20 and $35, respectively.

For the two longer sessions, customers can also order coffee, tea or edible cookie dough provided by The Dough Jar.

Having a sudden craving for cat cuddle time? You can walk into the shop for a 15-minute session with the kittens without a reservation.

The owner of the lounge said its purpose is to address “kitten season,” a time of year when shelters are usually overrun with kittens.

"Our goal is to save 500 kittens and get them adopted. Maybe we can do more. Who knows?" founder Kanchan Singh told News4.

Singh says the pop-up is a space to hold some of the kittens from Homeward Trails Rescue Alliance during this busy time. All of them are adoptable.

Homeward Trails Rescue Alliance is a nonprofit that provides homes for rescue animals from rural or low-income areas in the region.

Crumbs & Whiskers already operates a Cat Cafe in Georgetown at 3211 O St. NW.

The Kitten Lounge is open six days a week, 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., through June 2019. Children must be at least 7 years old to visit, and children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
