Laughter Is the Best Medicine: The Smile Project Coming to RFK

Spend four days enjoying music, performances, food and health screenings.

Get those pearly whites ready -- the Smile Project Carnival and Concert comes to D.C. the first weekend of June.

The four-day festival, co-hosted by Broccoli City and Universal Fairs, is set for June 1-4 at RFK Stadium's Lot 6 (2400 E. Capitol St.). Attendees will be able to enjoy music, performances, food trucks and health screenings.

The Smile Project Carnival and Concert is an effort to "promote physical and mental wellness across all age groups through smile and laughter," according to a release from event planners. Laughter has been linked to a strengthened immune system, improved mood and reduced impacts from stress.

Disney Channel star Skai Jackson will be at the festival, and performers include Goldlink, Black Alley, Visto and White Ford Bronco.

Broccoli City -- an organization that uses multiple platforms to encourage healthy, sustainable living in engaged communities -- held its annual music festival and its inaugural conference in May to discuss topics like social activism, food waste, social entrepreneurship and urban farming.
