Georgetown Hosts Annual French Market

Grab your beret and get ready to chow down on some crepes, because the 11th annual Georgetown French Market is taking over Georgetown on Friday and Saturday.

Georgetown is celebrating the start of the spring season by bringing a little French flavor to the Book Hill area of upper Wisconsin Avenue.

More than 30 shops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants are participating in the French Market festivities. Shoppers can enjoy 70 percent off at sidewalk sales in participating stores, and art lovers can browse the displays of fine French antiques.

The French Market is also a foodie's dream, with restaurants such as Cafe Bonaparte, Patisserie Poupon and Pho Viet serving fresh French pastries and Vietnamese sandwiches on the curbside. Bacchus Wine Cellar will offer wine tastings to attendees with 15 percent off all wine purchases.

The market is a family-friendly event, with live music, mimes and street entertainers roaming the streets, and an arts and crafts area available for kids.

The Georgetown French Market is sponsored by the Georgetown Business Improvement District. The market is open between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days.
