Free Screening of “Milk” with Academy Award Winning Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black

This Wednesday, kick off Capital Pride weekend with NBC4, Focus Features and Academy-Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black at a free screening of “Milk” at the Landmark E-Street Cinema in Northwest D.C.

The event begins at 7 p.m. with a Q&A session with Black moderated by NBC4's Wendy Rieger, followed by a screening of the movie.

The event is free, but space is limited. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. Attendees can RSVP for a spot by clicking here.

“Milk” is a biographical film based on Harvey Milk, the first openly gay person elected to public office in America. After a successful election to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977, Milk became an icon within the LGBT community.

The film was originally released in 2008, when it won two Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay for Black. The film is being screened on June 7 as a part of the 15th anniversary celebrations for the film company Focus Features, and as a celebration of Pride Month.
