What to Know

  • Saturday will be mostly sunny with low humidity and afternoon highs around 80 degrees
  • Expect much higher humidity Sunday and afternoon highs near 90, with a chance for isolated T-storms in the afternoon
  • Memorial Day also looks partly to mostly sunny and warm, with highs in the upper 80s and chances of rain generally at 30% or less

In terms of swimming pools, white pants and BBQs, Memorial Day is the beginning of summer. A glorious long weekend is ahead, and there are many, many ways to enjoy it.

Throughout the weekend, DC Black Pride will celebrate the African-American LGBTQ+ community at events including the Pride Ride, Pride in the Park and the Sounds of Pride Concert. Check the DC Black Pride website for a full schedule of events.

Prepare to have your mind blown at the 3-day futuristic world fair. The Museum of Science Fiction and NASA are partnering to promote STEAM educational activities at this comic con and science fiction-filled event. Women who Changed America Walking Tour

Take a walking tour of D.C. to learn about the women who founded organizations, sponsored legislation and blazed trails for the generations after. The two-hour walk costs $20 to attend.

Pups in the Park

Enjoy a day at Nationals Park with your puppy and other dog lovers. You and your dog will get to watch the game from outfield pet-friendly reserved seats. Human tickets cost $33, dog tickets cost $10 and all ticket proceeds will go to the Humane Rescue Alliance.

Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally

North Pentagon to West Potomac Park

If you hear the roars of motorcycle engines this weekend, look out for the members of Rolling Thunder. These motorcycle riders from across the U.S. will ride to honor POWs and MIAs who served during the Vietnam War during a rally on Sunday.

National Memorial Day Choral Festival

The American Veterans Center, the United States Air Force and Music Celebrations International join to honor veterans through song at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts over Memorial Day Weekend. The concert features that features a 300-voice choir accompanied by the U.S. Air Force Orchestra. Tickets are sold out online, but there will be some available in-person before the event.

Honor and celebrate America’s brave men and women in uniform at the 30th National Memorial Day Concert. Hear from Patti LaBelle, Gavin DeGraw and many more famous guests as well as the National Symphony Orchestra and the orchestras and choruses of the U.S. Military.
