Smithsonian Magazine's annual celebration, Museum Day, is right around the corner on Sept. 21. As we approached the big day — when thousands of participating museums across the U.S. offer free admission — we asked you to vote for your favorite museum in D.C.
Update: More than 22,000 votes were cast in four rounds, each pitting two formidable institutions against each other in a sudden-death challenge.
Many hard choices were made to arrive at the final faceoff: The National Museum of African American History and Culture versus the Natural History Museum.
Which museum is D.C.'s finest? (Drum roll, please)
The National Museum of African American History and Culture prevailed.
