DC Instagrammers Meet Up to Help Animals Saturday

D.C.-area Instagramers will come together for a good cause Saturday.

As part of Instagram's worldwide InstaMeet 15 -- which is focused on the theme of kindness -- they will come together to shine a light on the work of the Humane Rescue Alliance.

This event is hosted by the Instagram account @IGDC, which regularly hosts InstaMeets and events around Washington.

Saturday's InstaMeet will coincide with the Humane Rescue Alliance's weekly program at the National Arborteum called PACK. The program gives shelter dogs available for adoption a chance to play and socialize.

IGDC is hosting a supply drive for the shelters at the Arboretum during the InstaMeet Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Some of the items on the Humane Rescue Alliance's wish list include plush dog toys, dog treats, chain dog leashes, easy walk harnesses and Adopt Me vests. The Alliance also has an Amazon wish list that attendees can bring donations from.

The idea behind InstaMeets is fairly simple. Instagram users gather together in real life to take photos and videos together.

This weekend's Worldwide InstaMeet will take place all of the country and the world. In addition to sharing photos, Instagram users are encouraged to use three praise hands emojis to show their support -- and to like and comment supportive messages with friends.

And what better place to start sharing that kindness than with animals in need?
