Look out for a change of scenery across D.C. this Friday, in spaces once reserved for parked cars.
PARK(ing) Day 2019 will turn select parking spots into mini-parks.
The annual event involves approved pitches to the D.C. Department of Transportation.
The event aims to celebrate public space and encourage residents and visitors to rethink the amount of space dedicated to parking. It began in San Francisco and has since spread all over the world.
Mini-parks can be found in all eight wards of the city on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In Chinatown, an installation at 713 7th St. NW will focus on urban agriculture. Visitors will be able to plant herbs and enjoy hummus and coffee. The D.C. Public Library will have gardening resources there.
