Most ugly Christmas sweaters spend their days gathering dust at the bottom of the closet, only to be taken out to show off to relatives during the winter holidays.
But here’s a chance to use your sweater other than for family bonding. The Ugly Sweater Run at Maryland's National Harbor allows thousands of runners to break out their most embarrassing sweaters and run approximately 3.1 miles through the streets.
The 5k will feature huge inflatables, photo stations and of course, some cheesy holiday music. Drink stations will be serving up hot chocolate and a choice of Sam Adam’s winter Lager, Boston Lager or Angry Orchard Hard Cider.
After the race, awards will be handed out for the worst sweater and best sweater (depending, of course, on your definition), best real mustache, best fake mustache and best beard.
