David Nelson, Star of “Ozzie and Harriet,” Dies at 74

David Nelson, a star on his parents' popular 1950 and 60s sit-com "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," has died, reports E! Online. He was 74.

Nelson, the last surviving member of the show's classic, mid-century nuclear family, passed away due to complications from colon cancer, according to his publicist, Dale Olson.

Besides starring on the show and eventually directing several episodes over its run, Nelson also appeared in movies such as "Peyton Place" and worked as a producer in the 1970s and 80s.

He may be best known for his his tongue in cheek role in John Waters' 1950s send up, "Cry-Baby," in which he played Patty Hearst's husband and was father to Traci Lords.

He is survived by his second wife, Yvonne, four sons, a daughter and seven grandchildren. His brother, Ricky, died in a 1985 plane crash.
