David Cook & Adam Lambert's ‘Idol' Finale Absences Explained

Every winner of "American Idol" appeared on the show's stage on Wednesday night to help the show bid adieu to departing judge Simon Cowell – except for one, Season 7 winner David Cook.

Access Hollywood has learned that David's absence, however, was nothing dramatic.

David Cook had a charity event in Kansas City, his rep told Access Hollywood of the former "Idol" champ, who is known for his support of charities – in particular those related to cancer, a disease that stripped him of his brother.

Another popular "Idol" alumnus who was also conspicuously missing from the finale was Adam Lambert.

Adam's rep said that the Season 8 runner-up did not make it to the show as he was put on vocal rest.
