Designer Shoe Incident Won't Stop Aretha Franklin

The Queen of Soul's performance tonight at Wolf Trap is expected to go on despite fracturing her toe while stumbling over a designer shoe.

Spokeswoman Tracey Jordan told The Associated Press Tuesday that Aretha Franklin has not missed any gigs despite the misstep following a private performance in Dallas. She continues to perform, although she is wearing a hospital boot.

Franklin performed Thursday at the home of an "oil baron" and was packing at her hotel when the spiked heel of a Jimmy Choo shoe "wrapped" around her toe.

Jordan said Franklin awoke the next day and "it was still hurting and throbbing."

The Grammy-winning songstress stopped Friday at an Indianapolis hospital and received the bad news. She continued on to a scheduled performance in Greenwich, Conn., and was expected to sing Tuesday night at the Wolf Trap in Vienna, Va.
