“The Voice” Recap: America Picks the Top 5 on #VoiceHomecoming

The top six were reduced to the top five as several former competitors returned to the stage.

For some singers, Tuesday night’s episode of “The Voice” was a joyous return to the stage.

For another, it was farewell.

After a night of knockout performances, America’s votes were tallied and the top six became the top five.

The night started with a #VoiceHomecoming performance from Jacquie Lee, a Season 5 finalist from Team Xtina, who sang her song “Tears Fall” co-written by Sia.

Host Carson Daly then announced the first artist to advance to the top five semifinals: Team Pharrell’s teen heartthrob Sawyer Fredericks.

Avery Wilson, a Season 3 competitor from Team Cee Lo, returned to the stage with his new pop single “If I Have To.”

The next singer to advance: Meghan Linsey, the Nashville soul singer and sole remaining contestant from Team Blake.

Vicci Martinez, who finished third overall in 2011 as a member of Team Cee Lo, had her homecoming with a performance of “Bad News Breaker.”

America’s third save went to another teen from Team Pharrell, Koryn Hawthorne.

Craig Wayne Boyd, Team Blake’s champion from last season, made his #VoiceHomecoming with his aptly-chosen song “I’m Still Here.”

The fourth artist to win a save was Team Adam’s Joshua Davis, which left India Carney and Kimberly Nichole — both of Team Xtina — to each perform one last time to earn America’s instant #VoiceSave.

Carney was up first, singing Pink’s “Perfect.”

Nichole sang “Seven Nation Army” by the White Stripes.

The votes were tallied…

…and the winner was Carney, who once again avoided elimination with a #VoiceSave.

“The Voice” returns with performances from the top five artists on Monday, May 11, at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT.
