Seth Meyers Names Fellow SNL Alum Fred Armisen as “New Late” Night Bandleader

Start spreading the news...

Seth Meyers has added fellow Saturday Night Live actor, Fred Armisen, to his permanent Late Night line-up.

Since The Roots are following Jimmy Fallon over to his new hosting gig on The Tonight Show, Meyers has been looking for a way to fill the musical void on his upcoming late-night talk show--and it looks like Armisen is the new leader of the band!

Meyers announced today via Twitter that the Portlandia star has been named as the new head of 8G Band. "Fred will curate and lead the band, and continue to run it even when he's off shooting Portlandia," the Late Night host explains.

The new NBC host also posted the first picture of Armisen together with the other 8G Band members Seth Jabour (guitar), Kimberly Thompson (drums), Eli Janney (keyboards), and Syd Butler (bass).

Meyers, who will kick off his Late Night hosting gig on Feb. 24, will welcome Parks and Rec star Amy Poehler as his very first guest.
