Jimi Jamison, Survivor Lead Singer, Dies at 63

Survivor confirmed the news on Monday on its Facebook page.

Jimi Jamison, the lead vocalist for rock bands Survivor and Cobra, died Sunday night at the age of 63, the band confirmed Monday.

On Facebook, the band wrote: "The entire Survivor family is very shocked and saddened by the passing of our brother Jimi Jamison. Our thoughts, love and prayers go out to his family and friends."

Jamison's booking manager Sally Irwin told TMZ, who broke the news, that the rock singer died of a heart attack while at his home in Memphis, Tennessee.

Survivor released the “Rocky III” theme “Eye of the Tiger,” two years before Jamison joined the band. The band’s original singer, Dave Bickler, left the group because of polyps on his vocal chords, Variety reported.

Jamison's first album with Survivor was "Vital Signs," which went platinum and spawned the hit singles "I Can't Hold Back," "High on You" and "The Search Is Over.

Jamison had performed with Survivor on August 30 in Morgan Hill, California.
