New JK Rowling Book “The Silkworm” Finally Available on Amazon.com

J.K. Rowling's latest novel has quickly climbed up the best-seller lists now that it's finally available for purchase on Amazon.com.

Rowling's detective novel "The Silkworm" was in the top 100 early Friday for both print and e-book sales. She wrote it under the pen name "Robert Galbraith."

Thursday was the book's official publication date, but it couldn't be ordered before then through Amazon because the online retailer and Rowling's U.S. publisher, Hachette Book Group, are arguing over e-book terms. Amazon delayed shipments for some books by Hachette authors or made the releases entirely unavailable.

Buying "The Silkworm" in hardcover still isn't without some frustration: Amazon currently lists the book as "in stock" but notifies customers that it may "require an extra 1-2 days to process."

Barnes & Noble's website ranks "The Silkworm" No. 1 for print and No. 5 for e-books.

Rowling's first story under her pen name, "The Cuckoo's Calling," initially attracted little notice when it was published in 2013, but rocketed up the charts once the author's identity was exposed.

A lawyer has been fined for letting slip the writer's identity. In July of last year, the law firm Russells, which has done work for Rowling, acknowledged that one of its partners had let the information slip to his wife's best friend, who tweetd it to a Sunday Times cloumnist.
