Ariel Winter gets to be a Dunphy on TV, but in reality, her family life has been less than picture-perfect.

In a new interview with Teen Vogue, the 15-year-old "Modern Family" star opens up about her tumultuous relationship with her mother, Chrisoula Workman, and how life is much more "normal" now that she's under her older sister Shanelle Workman's temporary guardianship.

"I had body insecurities when I was younger. I still do. Every girl has insecurities--mine were heightened at the time because my mother wasn't supportive," she says. "Now, my sister is always making sure to tell me that I look beautiful."

"I've never had a curfew before," she says. "My life is definitely more normal [living with my sister]--and that'll help me grow up like I'm supposed to," she added. "It's just a different experience for me because I have more of a family life. I'm really happy."

That said, Winter doesn't want her personal life back in the news anytime soon.

"I want to be the kind of actress where, if I'm in the press, I'm in for the right reasons--for my work," she explains. "To be in the press about family drama is kind of embarrassing."
