    Good news for Justin Bieber!

On Monday, prosecutors dropped an assault charge against the 20-year-old pop star that stemmed from an alleged Dec. 29, 2013, limo scuffle in Toronto, his attorneys confirmed to E! News.

The now-dropped charge, which was issued on Jan. 29, 2014, "was withdrawn at the request of the Crown" on Monday, his Toronto attorney, Brian Greenspan, said in a statement. "We welcome the decision of the office of the Crown Attorney to withdraw the charge, having reached the conclusion that there was no reasonable prospect of conviction."

"We have always maintained Mr. Bieber's innocence," added Greenspan. "The withdrawal of the charge is the product of a thorough and thoughtful review of the evidence by responsible prosecutors. We thank them for their consideration."

Another attorney for Justin, Howard Weitzman, confirmed the charge was dismissed Monday, saying, "The Crown did not believe there was a reasonable probability of conviction and they chose not to proceed."

He reiterated the star's legal team has "always maintained Mr. Bieber's innocence in this matter."
