Investigators Send Alleged Egg-Tossing Case Involving Justin Bieber to LA Co. District Attorney

Prosecutors are considering an alleged egg-throwing vandalism case involving pop star Justin Bieber, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said.

The case was presented to the DA Thursday. A decision about whether the DA will take up the case is not expected to be made this week, DA spokeswoman Jane Robison told NBC4 Southern California.

Bieber, 19, is suspected of tossing eggs at a neighbor’s Southern California home and causing thousands of dollars in damage, officials said. The singer lives in a gated community in Calabasas, a celebrity enclave about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

"I get that the eggs don't seem that significant, but it does rise to the level of a felony," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. David Thompson said during a Jan. 14 news conference. "There is a victim in this case who has extensive damage done to their home. And that's a serious incident."

Bieber was not arrested, but Thompson was quick to add, “nor has he been exonerated.”

Roughly a dozen investigators searched Bieber’s home and arrested one member of the singer's entourage, Xavier Dominic Smith, aka Lil Zo, on suspicion of drug possession.

Smith has been charged with two counts of felony drug possession and one count of causing damage in excess of $950 to jail property, the latter pertaining to his bust for allegedly ripping a telephone off the wall right before he was about to post bail following his drug arrest.

Ecstasy and Oxycontin are the drugs involved, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office told E! News.

The alleged egg-throwing incident is one of a spate of legal woes Bieber has found himself in as of late.

He faces charges of driving under the influence after police in Florida said he raced through a Miami Beach neighborhood in a rented Lamborghini, cursed at cops as he resisted arrest and admitted to consuming drugs and alcohol last month.

He is expected to appear in court March 3 in that case.

The Canadian native turned himself in to police in Toronto Jan. 29 and was charged with one count of assault for allegedly hitting a Toronto limousine driver several times in the back of the head in December.
