"American Idol" contestants are in Detroit to film segments with Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr. and singer Smokey Robinson at the famous Hitsville USA building.

Gordy and Robinson will work with "Idol" contestants, who will sing Motown classics inside the famed Studio A.

The trip marks the popular Fox network singing contest's first visit to Detroit since contestants were auditioned during season No. 2.

Motown is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The "Idol" field was narrowed down to 10 on Wednesday night, when Alexis Grace was eliminated from the competition.
