Tidbits: Drew and Justin rekindle their romance

Pop-turned-country singer Jessica Simpson ended her tour on the wrong note last weekend when she forgot the lyrics to her own songs.

According to a report in Us Weekly, Simpson first faltered on the song “Remember That,” and rather than playing it off like a pro, she required a do-over.

“Oops! I said ‘whiskey’ too early,” she told the crowed in Irvine, Calif. “I messed up! I'm so embarrassed! But I'm starting over again because I really want you guys to hear the lyrics the right way.”

It was more of the same from Simpson when she flubbed the opening line to “Still Don’t Stop Me,” telling the audience, “I messed up again! I do this all the time!”

Drew and Justin rekindle their romance

They broke up last July, but Drew Barrymore and her “He’s Just Not That Into You” co-star, Justin Long, aren’t letting a little thing like that stand in the way of their romance.

Though there’s been no official “on-again” announcement from the pair, they didn’t bother to hide their affections when they hit the town last week.

“They were definitely acting like more than friendly exes!” a source who spotted the couple Thursday at L.A.’s Bar Marmont told Life & Style magazine. “They couldn't get enough of each other. I don't think they even noticed that there were other people in the room! In between kisses it was all smiles and laughs.”

Barrymore and Long continued their public love-fest the following night at a sushi restaurant in Hollywood.

“They were both in a great mood,” said another source. “They were smiling ear-to-ear the whole time, and laughing and looking like they were so happy they were going to burst.”

Cute! Of course, given Barrymore’s boyfriend track record, the “off-again” clock’s already ticking away.

Jesus shacks up with Madonna
Brazilian model Jesus Luz isn’t just Madonna’s boyfriend; he’s the Queen of Pop’s roommate, too. According to Britain’s Daily Mirror, Luz, 22, and his 50-year-old gal pal now share the singer’s New York home.

“Jesus has left his old life and his old friends behind,” an insider revealed. “His whole world has turned on its head since he met Madonna. A few months ago he was living at his mom’s place in one of the poorest cities in the world. Now he’s got his feet under the table in a massive mansion block overlooking Central Park. And he’s on the books of the biggest modeling agency in the world.”

Luz isn’t the only one in the relationship making big changes, as the source insists the influence goes both ways.

“(Madonna’s) mellowed into a completely different person from the one who was married to Guy Ritchie,” the insider said. “She never used to like cooking but now she has really got into it. They laugh a lot and enjoy staying in.”

And going out, evidently.

Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t buy Phoenix’s rap
The media isn’t alone in questioning Joaquin Phoenix’s career switcheroo. Even the actor’s “Two Lovers” co-star, Gwyneth Paltrow, seems to smell a hoax on the horizon.

“Yes I’d like to take this opportunity to announce that I’m quitting acting to become a rapper,” Paltrow joked to MTV UK. “So, I’m going to write ‘Good Bye’ across my knuckles and everything.”

Of course, Paltrow’s not really contemplating a Phoenix-like break from film. Then again, she doesn’t believe Phoenix has made that break, either.

“I’m not a hundred percent sure that that’s really going to be the case,” she said. “I think that there might be some other explanation or something going on, I’m not quite sure what (laughs) but I can’t believe that he’s really going to quit forever to become a rapper, it seems odd.”

Yes, odd and obviously staged.

Dish on the fly
Despite what some gossip bloggers may report, there’s no baby on the way for Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi. “Believe me, I think motherhood would be amazing and exciting and wonderful, but it isn't really something that's on the immediate horizon for us,” De Rossi recently revealed to the Los Angeles Times. “How this IVF rumor started, I really, really have no idea. But I can tell you that it is definitely not happening in the near future.” While the actress admitted she appreciates the fact that the public is “open-minded enough” to speculate about a same-sex couple starting a family, she added, “The only thing I'm trying to avoid by denying it is, I just don't want those horrible pictures in magazines where they circle your stomach and point and go 'baby bump!’” … John Malkovich lost big bucks when Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme went bust, but the actor doesn’t see himself as one of the real victims. “I wouldn’t say I feel flush,” Malkovich told the New York Daily News. “But I wouldn’t pretend to have less than the most spectacular life. I’m more worried about people who don’t have jobs.”
