Tony Awards to be Broadcast from The Beacon Theatre

The Tony Awards are moving on up. To the West Side, that is.

The 65th annual awards honoring the best in theater will broadcast from the Beacon Theater in New York City next year, reports UPI.

In recent years the award show has taken palce at the famed Radio City Music Hall in midtown Manhattan.

Jack Sussman, CBS Entertainment's executive vice president of specials, music and live events, made the announcement via a press release.

"What do the Rolling Stones, the Dalai Lama and 'Madame Butterfly' all have in common? They are played the Beacon," he said in the statement. "We're proud to now be adding the Tony Awards on CBS to that iconic list and bringing one of the great annual events of theater and TV to one of the truly great historical landmarks of New York City."

The 2011 Tony Awards will take place June 12.
