Natalie Portman's Pregnancy Slammed by Mike Huckabee

Mike Huckabee's not feeling the love for the "Black Swan" star.

Natalie Portman may have just won an Oscar for "Black Swan," but potential presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is treating the Hollywood star more like a black sheep.

The former Arkansas governor and Fox News host blasted the actress for deciding to have an out-of-wedlock child with her fiance, Benjamin Millepied, reports US Magazine.

"People see a Natalie Portman who boasts, 'We're not married but we're having these children and they're doing just fine," Huckabee said in an interview with radio host Michael Medved. "I think it gives a distorted image. It's unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out-of-wedlock children."

During her acceptance speech at the Academy Awards, Portman thanked her soon-to-be husband for giving her the chance to be a mother, which she called "the most important role" in her life.

Medved quipped in response that he (Millepied) "didn't give her the most wonderful gift, which would be a wedding ring!"

Huckabee also said that many single parents wouldn't have the resources that Portman has at her disposal, a fact that made her pregnancy "troubling."

"Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can't get a job, and if it weren't for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care," he said. "Anfd that's a story we're not seeing."

Portman has not responded to Huckabee or Medved's remarks, though Huckabee followed up on his blog Friday, explaining that he did not "slam" the actress.

"Natalie is an extraordinary actor, very deserving of her recent Oscar and I am glad she will marry her baby's father," he wrote. "However, contrary to what the Hollywood media reported, I did not 'slam' or 'attack' Natalie Portman, nor did I criticize the hardworking single mothers in our country."
