DJ AM's Girlfriend Denies Split Caused Death

DJ AM's body arrives in L.A. as family searches for burial site

DJ AM's girlfriend Hayley Wood said Tuesday that it wasn't a break-up that caused the celebrity disc jockey's death -- and that she and AM, real name Adam Goldstein, were together when he passed away last week.

Wood, 22, denied reports that she and Goldstein had split, telling Usmagazine.com that she'd never broken up with Goldstein and that his death broke her heart.

"Any indication that this horribly tragic accident happened because of a rumored breakup is not only untrue but disgusting," Wood said.

"We were very much together at the time of his passing, and I love him very much," she said.

Wood, a model, and Goldstein dated for nearly a year before Goldstein died of an apparent overdose at age 36 on Aug. 28. Rumors swirled several weeks before Goldstein's death that he and Wood had called it quits, and several media outlets speculated that the break-up was to blame for the death of Goldstein, an ex-drug addict who relapsed in 2008.

Goldstein's family searched Tuesday for a burial spot for the DJ, whose body arrived in Los Angeles and is now in the care of a local funeral parlor, E! Online reported.

The funeral will reportedly take place on Thursday, but Goldstein's family has yet to confirm or deny its time and location.

"The family just wants everything to be private," said funeral director Frank E. Campbell, the owner of the funeral home where Goldstein's body was held in New York City before it was transported to Los Angeles.

Goldstein was involved in a tragic 2008 plane crash, miraculously surviving the accident that also involved good friend and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker.

He was previously engaged to Nicole Richie, the celebrity daughter of musician Lionel Richie.
