Kate Walsh's Husband Files For Divorce

Kate Walsh’s husband of just over a year, movie executive Alex Young, has filed for divorce.

According to the court paperwork filed by attorneys for Young in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by Access Hollywood, the couple separated on November 22, 2008, just one year and two months into the marriage.

Young cited irreconcilable differences in his filing. He has also asked the court not to award Walsh spousal support.

“Papers have been filed to amicably end the marriage of executive Alex Young, and actress Kate Walsh,” the statement read. “The couple remain on friendly terms and sincerely hope the media will respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

The “Private Practice” star, 41, began dating Young in Spring 2007.

The couple wed in front of approximately 100 guests, including Walsh’s former “Grey’s Anatomy” co-stars Katherine Heigl, Chandra Wilson, Sara Ramirez and Justin Chambers, a few months later in September 2007. British actress Kate Beckinsale and her husband, film director Len Wiseman, also attended the ceremony, which was held at Ojai Presbyterian Church, in Ojai, California, a town just south of Santa Barbara.

In an interview with Best Life magazine published in April 2007, the month she was first spotted out and about with Young, Walsh suggested her life was similar to the character she first played on “Grey’s” – Dr. Addison Shepherd.

“Sometimes I feel like, ‘What am I doing? Am I becoming my character, or is my character becoming me?,’” she said. “I’m starting to get a little superstitious here. I definitely identify with my character in that, romantically at least, this is not where I thought I’d be at 39.”

At the time, Walsh said she felt pulled between wanting to live life to its fullest and the desire to settle down.

“I feel torn between having the time of my life and wanting very serious things, like a surplus of love for a family and all that,” the actress said. “But what’s in front of me right now is work. Often, I think it would have been so great if this success had happened when I was 27 or 28, but then again, I wouldn’t have had the maturity then to deal with it and not end up in rehab.”
