Joseph Gordon-Levitt To Star in New “Dark Knight” Film

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is joining the cast for the sequel to “The Dark Knight.”

The “500 Days of Summer” actor is slated to star in “The Dark Knight Rises,” whose scheduled release date is July 20 of next year, Variety reported. It will mark a reunion between Gordon-Levitt and director Christopher Nolan—both of whom collaborated on last year’s “Inception.”

The upcoming movie will again feature Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne, along with Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway and Gary Oldman.

What character Gordon-Levitt will play in the new Batman sequel is uncertain. Some of the possible names, according to the blogosphere , could be the Riddler or Deadshot.

Variety also reported that indie star Juno Temple could play a “street-smart Gotham girl” in the film.

Representatives for the actors have not commented about the roles.
