Glam Slam: The Politics Of Style

Michelle Obama’s affordable dress sends women flocking to stores to buy it. Sarah’s signature glasses spiked sales a whopping 400 percent. Cindy McCain’s $300,000 ensemble makes headlines.

Politics and fashion usually don’t mix. In fact, they are rarely uttered in the same sentence. Who knew these women and their clothes would make so many headlines AND set so many trends at the same time?

I mean, Hillary had her headbands and there was “Nancy Reagan Red”, but not since Jackie Kennedy in the ‘60s, have people been this interested and influenced by political players.

SARAH’S STYLE
News broke yesterday that the RNC spent $150,000 on designer clothes for Sarah and her family. From the moment she was announced as a candidate, there has been intense interest in everything from her Kazuo Kawasaki eyeglasses to the kicky red patent heels she wore at her debate. All eyes have been on her, as she has been making the style transition from Alaska Governor to VP candidate material.

MODERN MICHELLE
Michelle’s modern sense of style has earned her plenty of press and comparisons to Jackie Kennedy. She wears it all, from the Gap to hometown Chicago designer Maria Pinto, and she wears it well. After appearing on “The View,” White House/Black Market sold out of the $148 dress she wore. Not even fashion icons Jennifer Lopez or Victoria Beckham have that power.

CLASSIC CINDY
Cindy McCain is the most traditional of the three ladies. She has a very classic, elegant style favoring $4,000 designer suits from designers like Oscar De La Renta and real jewelry including her Chanel J12 watch and strands of pearls.

Most of us could never afford such expensive wardrobes. We teamed up with Glamour Magazine to show you how to get all three ladies’ looks for less. Tune in tonight to Access Hollywood.
