"I feel a little more exotic," confesses Katherine Heigl of her new shorter, auburn do.
Katherine told us that playing blonde Izzie on Grey's Anatomy prevented her from drastically changing her hair. But now that Izzie is bald, Katherine decided to go for a new look. Celebrity Stylist and salon owner Kim Vo (who has also worked with Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson) darkened Katherine's signature light locks before the red carpet premiere of her new film "The Ugly Truth."

"The actual color is a unique blend. Ask for a light chocolate with an amber cinnamon twist. It should have auburn hues, but in the brown family."

"Reds naturally come out of your hair color, so no worries formulating! Add anything with a warm hue which will help bring out the skin color. You should look for a warm chocolate auburn brown. You should also look for browns that have "natural warmth" written on the bottle. For example, L'Oreal 5NW."
Kim suggests you finish off with a glaze, which will help seal the color and give you the extra shine that you would normally pay for at the salon! Katherine likes Kim Vo Glaze, but you can also find drug store options like John Frieda Collection Luminous Color Glaze.
