Former ‘Bachelor' Aaron Buerge Getting Married

For "Bachelor" happy to leave behind "drama of dating"

Seven years after his days as "The Bachelor," Aaron Buerge is getting married, People reported.

The former reality show star proposed to Helene Eksterowicz in the second season finale, but the couple split by the end of 2002. Now, Aaron told the mag he's left the "drama of dating" behind with fiancee Angye McIntosh, a commercial insurance agent. They're set to wed on Aug. 8.

"I'd like to have a family," Aaron, 35, said. "I'm not getting any younger. At this point, when you're in your mid-30s, most of the drama of dating has gone away. There's a lot more maturity in your relationship. I know from my experience what I'm looking for, what makes me happy. I'm not gun-shy. I'm amazingly calm about the whole situation, believe it or not. That's kind of a good sign."

The two have been together for what Aaron calls "a couple of years" after an incident that the latest "Bachelorette," Jillian Harris, an avowed hot dog fan, would probably approve.

"Long story short, I got some hot dog mustard on her the first time we met," Aaron said. "I was chowing down."

But he said his bride-to-be didn't mind.

"She's really a genuine person, and that's really hard to come by," he said. "She's hard-working, she's a smart girl, she's driven, she's independent… She's just a very quality gal."
