Florida City Drops Fall Out Boy

Boca Raton nixes concert after a riot at a recent live show; Luckily, there was a fall back plan for fans

Call it the fall out of Fall Out Boy.

The popular, energetic band was supposed to perform in downtown Boca Raton on Tuesday but city officials pulled the plug after viewing a YouTube.com video of a riot that broke out at an Albuquerque concert recently.

But fans need only travel a few miles south to find the band's fall back plan. Pompano Beach quickly swooped in to pick up the show, which will be held at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater, proving one city's trash is another's treasure.

On Tuesday, two members of Fall Out Boy - Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump - fielded questions from South Florida high school students, who were acting as journalists on a school assignment.

Only one student asked about the cancellation and security concerns from Boca officials. Every class needs a nerd.

The others were probably too star-struck and asked about what the band members like to do when they aren't on stage, what band member tastes the best and what tattoos they have. The future of journalism is bright indeed.

"To find Fall Out Boy's crowd and live show to be more dangerous seems a little bit ridiculous," said Wentz, the band's bass player and husband of Ashlee Simpson.

Boca Raton officials weren't just being stuffed shirt fuddy duddies. Last year, the city tried to be hip and hosted the band Slightly Stoopid and a riot broke out that sent 6 people to the hospital for various injuries including alcohol poisoning.
