American Idol Alum Kellie Pickler Engaged

"Red High Heels" singer engaged to songwriter Kyle Jacobs

Singer Kellie Pickler can now plan for the best day of her life, after getting an engagement ring from songwriter Kyle Jacobs.

Jacobs' carefully planned proposal to the "American Idol" season 5 alum on June 15, included a blanket, champagne and candles on a Florida beach at sunset.

"It turned out to be the most amazing day of my life," Pickler, 23, told People magazine.

The pair, which met two and a half years ago through friends, "just held each other and had the most beautiful prayer," according to Jacobs.

Added Pickler, "Kyle took away all my fear of marriage and has shown me the way love is supposed to be."

The engagement date has long carried significance for Pickler, marking the birthday of her late grandmother, Faye, who raised her from the age of two, when her mother left and her father was jailed.

"My whole world changed," Pickler said. "We both feel like we got my grandmother's blessing."

"I'm in the happiest place I've ever been," said Pickler, who has reconciled with her father, Clyde. After stints in and out of jail, the elder Pickler has been sober for over a year. The singer's wedding plans call for him to give her away.

Noting fellow country songbirds Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert have also recently gottten engaged, Pickler joked, "There must be something in the water."
