That's right. The executive producer of "300" is on board for a feature film version of "American Gladiators."
Scott Mednick, who also produced "Superman Returns" and "10,000 B.C.," said he is currently reaching out to writers and directors. Johnny Ferraro, the creator of the television franchise, said the film is targeted for a 2011 release.
If you're going to make a movie with macho beefcakes beating the crap out of each other, Mednick is definitely your guy.
The TV show, which has 19 seasons under its belt, was originally intended for the big screen, Ferraro said.
"For 27 years this franchise has grown beyond anyone's wildest dreams," Ferraro told City News Service. "Now, by adding a major motion picture, the franchise is positioned to not only be bigger and better, but it allows me to fulfill my original dream."
