Leukemia Ball Raises More than $3 Million

Washington came out strong to fund the fight against blood cancer at the biggest non-political black tie fundraiser of the year.

The 2014 Leukemia Ball was held at the Washington Convention Center Saturday night. More than 2,000 guests attended and the night raised $3 million dollars.

Redskins Hall of Famer Bobby Mitchell was honored with the James L. Eichberg lifetime Achievement Award. Entertainment was provided by comedian Ryan Hamilton and Huey Lewis and the News.

NBC4's Angie Goff and Comcast SportsNet’s Julie Donaldson were among the night's emcees. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been hosting the gala since 1988.
