Hundreds Gather in Fairfax Memorial for Rapper XXXTentacion

Several hundred people staged an impromptu memorial for the slain rapper XXXTentacion Tuesday night in the Fairfax district that included some mourners jumping on top of moving cars.

The group began gathering about 7:50 p.m. on Melrose Avenue near Fairfax Avenue, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Crowds blocked a stretch of Melrose Avenue and video from the scene showed some of the people attending the memorial jumping and dancing on top of cars before officers moved in and dispersed them.

A female was injured in the gathering, but details of how she was hurt or her condition were not immediately available, Im said.

There were no arrests.

A smaller group gathered for a candlelight vigil near Fairfax Avenue and Curson Street around 11 p.m., NBC4 reported.

The 20-year-old recording artist, whose real name is Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was gunned down while leaving a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida on Monday.
