The NBC4/Telemundo 44 family won 33 awards at the 2018 Capital Emmys.

The NBC4 and Telemundo 44 reporters, anchors and producers who are #Working4You seven days a week, 365 days a year brought home a combined 33 awards from the 2018 Capital Emmys.

The National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter Emmy awards were handed out Saturday night at a red carpet gala in Bethesda.

Ron Leidelmeyer, chief photographer at NBC4 Washington, was lauded for his talents and hard work with the Ted Yates Award. That award honors those who have demonstrated outstanding professional and personal qualities in TV news.

Jackie Bradford, President and General Manager of NBC4 Washington and Telemundo 44, congratulated Ron on his big win.

"Ron has shown us all that, despite whatever challenges life throws at you — and Ron has had his fair share — dedication, determination and positivity will always make you stronger. Ron’s friendly nature makes him a joy to work with ever day," Bradford said.

The NBC4 Telemundo 44 team collectively brought home more awards than any other news organization.

NBC4 won in 11 categories, including best morning newscast and best evening newscast.

NBC4 was commended for keeping you informed during the tragedies, victories and historic moments of the year, including the shooting at the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis, historic midterm elections, Amazon's HQ2 announcement and the Capitals winning the Stanley Cup.

Telemundo 44 joined the WRC family at the beginning of 2018 and hit the ground running, scoring 22 nominations and winning 21 awards for stellar newscasts, first-rate anchors, and in-depth coverage of religion, the military, health and science.

It's no surprise that the Telemundo 44 team was awarded for overall excellence, best daytime newscast and best evening newscast.
